I think I’m a bit lower on Buffer than most, also because it just sucks in Act 4. This is run-winningly powerful, and can sometimes be a reason to take Buffer on its own especially if it comes pre-upgraded. However, when you get a Buffer+ in play with an Amplify or Echo Form, you’re suddenly talking about multiple turns of invincibility that stick around until you need them. In many scenarios, Buffer is worse than two defends, which is a pretty sobering comparison. If I’m Defect in a hard fight, I’d probably rather use that 2 mana to draw and play my setup cards, and just take that little bit of extra damage. If played naked, it’s generally 2 mana to save yourself a small amount of damage in the future. Still a great card though.īuffer really needs to be upgraded or duplicated to be particularly valuable. It's a great card to use in a pinch, though it is more situational than other cards that give "additional layers of block" like ]. ![]() I'm glad Defect gets access to Buffer since they're a character who very much prefers setup. Think enemies like Gremlin Nob, Bronze Automaton (once the minions are dealt with), and Giant Head. ], ]) for a turn or two against solo enemies that would normally punish anything that isn't hyperoffensive. However, it allows you to use your energy on setup (e.g. Granted, this can't be said for every scenario it isn't great against gank fights or multihit attackers, much less the Heart. If there isn't a nearby campfire I tend to just skip.īuffer also needs a good amount of external block to make it worthwhile - frost orbs, for example, with a decent amount of focus allow you to save the buff for when shit hits the fan - though I think the real value of Buffer is allowing you turns to set up. ![]() block would get hit first, then would proc Buffer once it breaks), I tried to incorporate it into more runs, but I find that it's a card that really needs the upgrade to make it something you'd want to play when it pops up in your hand. Once I realized it worked after block rather than before it (i.e. At first I normally never took it unless I was running a power deck with ], and never really thought much about it. It's an extra layer of block to save for a rainy day. ![]() Buffer is not just a block card - it's a block card on top of block cards.
